goolona and lolo shum!
The Unilever event that I worked on was a learning experience of all kinds. From PR to workshops, judging to event management, artworks to travelling, stress to hair pulling, I learnt it all. I learnt that my thinking was developing by examples of the smallest actions, they had started capturing my attention, which had not happened before.
But during this 4 month project the most intresting thing that i learnt was that my vocabulary had increased by 2 beautiful words.
one of the final judges calls her daughter
"lolo shum"
out of love. On inquiring what that meant, she smiled and said "in persian it means a precious flower".
Another word that I came across was when i was in Peshawar with Jammie. Being in Peshawar for the first time, I turned to a teacher asking where I could go shopping. She asked me what I was looking for. "clothes" was an instant reply. She told me quite a few places, and then said "agar aap ko
goolona
prints chahiyay tu us ka bazaar alag hai".
Goolona
?
She couldnt understand my blank expression. I asked her what
goolona
meant and she said
goolona
means loud and colourful....
Uff I instantly fell in love with the word. The sound of it was so sweet....
goolona
!
And as for now, sub conciously, I see myself trying to put these two words into any and every sentence that is coming out of my mouth!
